As you all know, we've been hearing a lot about heavy rain for quite some time. Nobody really knew exactly what it was at first, but its shaped up to be something very unique, though not new in idea. I would like to share my thoughts on this upcoming game, due out next week.

This sony exclusive is attempting to reinvent an old genre with a new spin. That genre of course, for all of you who are old enough to remember, is the point and click adventure. You will be in control of what is basically an antire game of cut scene, with interactions strewn throughout. I wasn't exactly sure what I'd think of a "game" such as this, so I downloaded the demo recently from the EU store.

The first thin g you notice is that the game is very pretty, and that the rain isn't just a weather effect in the game, but an integral part of the story. I found, that despite myself, I was sucked into the story almost immediately, and wanted more. I never thought I'd be that enamoured with something that seems to have so little action, but its like watching an interactive movie.



The plot.

You take control of 4 characters--in the demo just two--who are all after the same thing. They are trying to stop a serial character. This storyline lends to a nice noir feel to the game that leaves you slightly on edge as you go from scene to scene. They offer enough interactions, such as decisions made, conversation choices, and environment exploration, that you really feel like you're at the reigns, and controlling events. Though the demo was rather small, I was able to get a different outcome by choosing different responses in a conversation I had with a whore. This leads me to another positive about this game for me. Its not a kids game. They keep a gritty and R rated feel in the game, as those of you who've seen the shower scene can attest to. You can watch this video here.

I will probably not be buying this game on release day, as I've gone on a crazy computer game buying spree since its purchase, but it will not be long before Heavy Rain becomse my 29th PS3 game. But don't just sit there jerks. I want to know what you think about it.
